About Us
Who We Are
Voices of Hope is a locally founded charity in Kingston Upon Thames with a big heart to inspire hope and create change through community-based projects that empower women and children. We help individuals not only overcome adversity but regain agency, restore wellbeing, and thrive. Creative Arts is at the heart of all our work, serving as a catalyst to restore voice, nurture wellbeing, and strengthen relationships.
BRITE Box began in May 2020 as a local response to growing food insecurity among families during the COVID-19 pandemic. Developed by Voices of Hope in partnership with KingsGate Church, Kingston, it started with a simple idea: to help families cook and eat nutritious meals together at home in a way that was fun and empowering.
Following its success in Kingston, BRITE Box now supports children and families across the UK, focusing on those identified by schools or youth groups as being at risk of food insecurity. In each borough, the project brings together the voluntary and business sectors, local authorities, and schools in a shared commitment to community wellbeing.
What began with just 17 boxes has grown into a multi-borough programme, reaching nearly 4,000 people a week across Voices of Hope’s managed hubs and community-based social franchise partners. BRITE Box has become more than a food project — it’s a source of learning, connection, and food confidence, helping families cook together, try new foods, and adopt healthier habits that build long-term resilience.
What We Do
Our vision
Our vision is for every child and family to gain the skills, confidence, and joy to cook, eat, and live well together.
Our mission
At BRITE Box, Building Resilience In Today’s Environment , our mission is to inspire children and families to discover the joy of cooking and eating well together.
We equip families with the skills, confidence, and inspiration to cook healthy, affordable meals from scratch, helping to make nutritious food a regular part of family life. By bringing fun, creativity, and learning into the kitchen, BRITE Box helps families strengthen their relationships with food and with one another.
While the programme supports families who may be finding it harder to access nutritious meals, its deeper purpose is to embed lifelong skills and nurture a love and enjoyment of healthy cooking and eating.
