Hersham Centre for the Community
Latest News
Hersham Centre is temporarily closed while Voices of Hope completes essential repairs and prepares to reopen on Tuesday 8 September. Preparation work includes building surveys, refurbishment planning, conversations with the community and developing partnerships that will support the Centre for years to come.
Since being appointed to manage the Centre, the Voices of Hope team has been listening to existing users, local residents, community groups and partner organisations. Together, we are shaping a programme that builds on the Centre’s strengths while creating new opportunities for people of all ages.
When the doors reopen, Café Hope will be at the heart of the Centre – a welcoming place to meet friends, enjoy affordable refreshments and connect with others in the community.
The autumn programme will see the return of many well-loved activities, alongside a wide range of new opportunities, including:
- Hope Kitchen healthy cooking sessions
- BRITE Box volunteering
- Family Fun Fitness for children and grown-ups together
- Mini Movers for children under four
- New strength and mobility classes
- Walton Stroke Group
- Aphasia Talk Surrey
- Additional art classes
- Live music afternoons
- Community Connectors
Whether you would like to learn a new skill, improve your health, make friends, volunteer or simply spend time with others, our aim is to make Hersham Centre a place where everyone feels welcome.
The Big Hersham Re-Launch
The reopening celebrations begin on Tuesday 8 September with The Big Hersham Re-Launch, taking place from 10am to 2pm.
Residents are warmly invited to:
- Explore the newly refreshed Centre
- Meet the Voices of Hope team
- Enjoy games including Mahjong, Scrabble and Bridge
- Sample Café Hope’s delicious roast lunch, with a £5 contribution on the day
At 1pm, the team will share its vision for the future of the Centre and introduce the programme planned for the months ahead. We will also invite local residents to share their ideas about how Hersham Centre can continue to grow as a welcoming and vibrant community hub – a place where people can build friendships, improve their wellbeing, access practical support and play an active part in community life.
We have done our best to finalise the programme; however, some dates, times and other details may be subject to change.
